Abstract

|
It has generally been accepted that there is a direct relationship between excessively rear-work such as writing and reading, and the incidence of myopia in primary school children.
The highest cideuce of myopia was found among 5th and 6th graders. This result had been reported by Kim and Hong in 1968, 1969 and 1973.
I instilled Mineral solution for myopic treatment of myopic primary school children during 16 weeks. Of these 140 eyes, the visual acuity increased in 92 eyes (65. 71 %), and remained stationary in 48 eyes (34.29%).
70 primary school children (140 eyes) were examined for refractive errors by the skiascopy. These ameliorated in 52 eyes (37.14%), aggravated in 48 eyes (34.29%) and remained unchanged in 40 eyes (28.57%).
As the control groups, 42 eyes with myopia were given instillation of normal saline and were examined 16 weeks later.
